Happy New Year’s Eve!!
Today’s topic: Your Pets and New Years Celebrations
Some people have New Year’s parties with fireworks, popping party favors, and popping champagne corks. Remember that these items can easily scare your pet. Make sure if you are having a party that you have a safe place for your furry children that provides them with safety, comfort, with food and water.Keep alcohol out of the reach of your pets. Spirits can be dangerous and even deadly to your animals. Make sure to clean up any spills promptly. If you decorate, keep your decorations out of reach of your pets. These can be dangerous as well to your beloved. You’ll want to clean up the party room prior to letting your pets reoccupy the area.Have the emergency number for your veterinarian on hand, just in case. You never know when an accident will happen and although you should have this information at all times, over the holidays it becomes even more important. If you have a PetSmart with a Banfield Vet Clinic located in the store, they are open on holidays and can be great in a pinch, such as when our dog had an allergic reaction on the 4th of July. So, enjoy the holiday and keep your pets safe. If you are participating in festivities, please drive safe. If you drink, don’t drive!

Good day everyone. The topic for today is Winter and your pet. Do you have an outdoor cat or dog? Now is the time to make sure that they can stay safe and warm. If you don’t allow these pets in your home for whatever reason, you will need to make sure they have the following:Warm place to sleep; dog house, cat house… there are lots to chose from and you can buy a warmer from the local pet store. You must know your animals though because some will not like the warmers. I had two cats who refused to go in their warmed cat house and preferred the dog’s house instead. In that case, we put blankets in the cat house and removed the warmer. They enjoyed that much more.Ensure your outdoor pets have fresh, unfrozen water. Temperatures dip drastically in the night so check their water first thing in the morning. There are devices to keep the water from freezing and you may want to check those out if you live in severe weather conditions.
Lastly, check on your pets frequently and if possible bring them in the house!

Hi everyone! This is the very first post on my very first blog. The PetsR4Us blog is all about pets; dogs, cats, birds, fish, you name it! My goal is to post daily depending on my schedule. If there is a pet topic you want to hear about, please let me know and I’d be glad to research it and write it.
A little about me… currently my pets number 5 cats, 7 Chihuahuas, and a lab/Shepard mix. In the past, I’ve had hamsters and a bearded dragon. My mother-in-law has birds, or budgees. So as you can see, I have a lot of experience with the pet world.
Sometimes I will write about the adventures of my pets, some how-to articles in case you are looking for your own pet, rescue tips, and I will give you my advice on how to best take care of your furry children.
If you are so inclined, please send me your funny pet photos, a brief description of what was going on, your name, and I will try to write a short story surrounding that photo.
So … welcome to my blog, thank you for taking the time to read this message, and I am looking forward to the future!
