Happy New Year’s Eve!!

Today’s topic: Your Pets and New Years Celebrations

Some people have New Year’s parties with fireworks, popping party favors, and popping champagne corks.  Remember that these items can easily scare your pet.  Make sure if you are having a party that you have a safe place for your furry children that provides them with safety, comfort, with food and water.Keep alcohol out of the reach of your pets.  Spirits can be dangerous and even deadly to your animals.  Make sure to clean up any spills promptly.  If you decorate, keep your decorations out of reach of your pets.  These can be dangerous as well to your beloved.  You’ll want to clean up the party room prior to letting your pets reoccupy the area.Have the emergency number for your veterinarian on hand, just in case.  You never know when an accident will happen and although you should have this information at all times, over the holidays it becomes even more important.  If you have a PetSmart with a Banfield Vet Clinic located in the store, they are open on holidays and can be great in a pinch, such as when our dog had an allergic reaction on the 4th of July. So, enjoy the holiday and keep your pets safe.   If you are participating in festivities, please drive safe.  If you drink, don’t drive!
